Remember those movies you watched when you were a child? You know the type you could watch over and over again and still not get sick of them. Well Airlie recieved The Wizard of Oz, Mary Poppins & Dumbo and to be honest I'm a little bit excited!! These are 3 movies that I just LOVE and we are going to have so much fun together watching them. We are currently watching The Wizard of Oz and I find myself singing along with Airlie and the movie. I really enjoy watching her while she is watching the movie too as she gets quite involved, be it happy or worried she displays loads of emotions and it is lovely to watch.
I'm not sure how many of you know that I have another blog over at http://www.momentbymoment.com.au/ This blog was attached to my own online store and website and is dedicated to premature babies. I set this up after Airlie my almost 5 year old Daughter was born at just 27weeks gestation.
I hope to do a bit more work to it soon soon so please keep an eye on it and stop by and leave me a comment.
It really is amazing what happens in other worlds that we are not acustomed to eg if you don't have a premmie baby you have no idea what that world is really like. I hoped by having this blog that others would start to realise what it was like. I also liked to write about premature birth and all that surrounds premmie babies and their families.
If you have a story about a premmie baby please contact me and I would be happy to share it for you via my blog. I find this a real healing process.
One Last Thing
To all of those families out there who are spending their Christmas in hospital with a tiny premmie, are on bed rest trying to stop the premature birth of their baby or are home with a baby who was finally made it home for hosptial I wish you the best Christmas in the world.
I also want to let the families know that have angels watching over them that my family and I stop and think of you guys often and although we can't give you what you want for Christmas we hope that you will accept our love and thoughts for you and your loved ones xoxoxo
Have you heard about the new big movie made by Disney ? Well it's called Tangled and I am sure if you love animations or have a little one you will be hearing more and more about this movie. My little girl Airlie (turning 5 in January!) loves the look of the trailer and to be honest so do I! Even my big boy Mason who is 10 also said he would like to go and see it too so I would say it would be a movie for all ages which would make it an excellent holiday activity for the whole family.
It is based upon the classic fairytale of Rapunzel and is said to be full of action. It is an animated musical comedy about the girl behind 70 feet of magical, golden hair. I have to admit I loved the original movie from the 'olden days' as my kids call it (argh I am now old enough that my kids say 'the olden days' Mind you I've only just turned 30!! Guess that is what happens when you have your babies young...you grow old to them anyway.
So the running theme through out the movie is one of boy vs. girl. Now as the only girl in the family with 3 brothers I have had my fair share of girl vs. boy or should I say girl vs. boyssss! I stood by ‘anything you can do, I can do better! x 1000 and never let them put one over me. There are many stories I could tell...but many may incriminate me and my Mum might find out! haha. So out of all the stories I can tell you here are a couple of small ones
Until I was about 14 we lived on a farm in country NSW and my brothers and I use to go 'exploring'. This could include any number of things from fishing for craybobs (with fishing line and hooks??), trying to pick up echidna (always with a jumper or something so the spikes doesn't get us!) or wrapping our much younger brother up in packing tape and then trying to cut him free quickly so our Mum didn't catch us! That particular time my poor brother got a free haircut and actually now I think of it he was also the one to cop the hook in the finger that wrapped around the electric fence and he sat there getting shocks! lol I know I shouldn't laugh but its funny not too.
look at us here all grown up...we never did any such things! Ha Ha
I am proud to say that it was always my brothers who had my mother reaching for the phone to the local nurse who lived close by to come and stitch the boys up......
Now didn't I say something about not telling incriminating stories??
Do you have any good boy vs. girl stories? leave a comment below here on my blog and tell me all about them.
Tangled opens in Australian Cinemas on 6th January 2011 and I know 1 special little girl who might get a visit to the movies on that very day as she has a very special day to celebrate!
If you want to check out anything else Disney take a look at this website Disney Movie Website and check out the trailer below.
My baby girl Airlie Fae was born 3months premature and didn't have one while in hospital for the first 2months of her life but she was given a blood transfusion at 8months when she was re-hospitalised. We know many babies who have had them at birth and through out their lives too. I also came very close to having to have a blood transfusion when I delivered Airlie at 27weeks gestation so I believe this service is vital.
I currently can't donate as I am breastfeeding but I have donated in the past and I will again as soon as I stop breastfeeding Aston.
It doesn't take long and it isn't that scary so why don't more people do it if they fit the requirements?
We had a big day yesterday at our house! We put up the Christmas tree as it was the 1st December (not sure why I wait till this day?? ask my Mum) The other big thing we did was Aston had his first taste of food...if you could call it that?! Aston was 5months and 3weeks old and I finally decided to give him some food after he has been displaying lots of interest in food lately. I don't think he was too sure about it all but he did pretty well for his first try. He loves to play with the spoon and I'm sure he will get the hang of it soon enough. What age did you start your baby with solids and what type of food did you feed them?
more on the bib and on the face I think but a good try all the same
You know how I had a baby a few months ago? well okay it was almost 6months but it feels like a second ago if you ask me. Well it seems he isn't happy being a baby anymore and wants to be a big boy!
Just yesterday at 5months and 3weeks old he decided to try and crawl and moved about 1meter along the floor with no help at all. He doesn't get up on his hands and knees but he sure can move when he puts his mind too it. He tends to pull his legs up under neath himself and then push off the floor which makes him lunge forward. I'm a bit worried he is going to rub all the hair off the front of his head or as one friend pointed out today get carpet burn on his forehead! I just can't believe that he is moving at such a young age. I know he watches everywhere the big kids go and he is always moving, I just didn't expect he would actually move so quickly. I guess I should start baby proofing the house straight away as I think before christmas he will be able to get into more then I bargained for.
At what age did your kids crawl?
I have to try and capture Aston crawling but until then here is another pic of my gorgeous boy.
Wow I can't quite believe that on the 29th Nov Adrian and I celebrated 13 years together. We meet when I was just a few weeks of 17 and he was 18. After 6 years together and a son we married in a tiny beach town on the North Coast of NSW Australia where we had met 6 years before to the very day. 2 more babies later and several moves we are now a family of 5 + 1 can't forget Benny the jack russle.
