Blogging Awards - love them or hate them?

So I was wondering, do you like Blogging Awards?

If you are a blogger yourself, do you like to nominate or be nominated for a bloggers awards? Do you think they are fair and do you ask your followers to vote for you to help you win or do you prefer not to ask?

If you are a reader , do you like to participate in them and vote for your fave blogger in blog awards? Do you think being asked to vote for your favourite blogger should be rewarded, or are you happy to just do it because you love reading their blog so much and can appreciate the effort they put into it?

I'm asking this because there are always awards and competitions around and I wondered how others felt about them?  I personally love seeing the lists because it helps me find new people to follow and read.  I'm always hoping to find someone new on the  list because lets face it, it's not like we don't have enough to read already! I don't mind voting for people in weblog awards and if I am nominated, I don't either!  I'm also always proud of my blogging buddies who are nominated and win these awards because it is so nice  to be recogonised for what you do. Plus have you seen some of the prizes these comps have up for grabs, they are awesome!

For example, I have been off the radar with blogging lately as we've had a lot going on that I missed all the Kidspot Top 50 Bloggers news. Don't worry though because if you are interested in finding some awesome new blogs to follow (like me) you should check the list as there are 50 amazing bloggers to be discovered. I've got to be honest and I admit that I secretly wished I was nominated for this award too, because imagine how many people I would be able to connect with and I really need to buy a Ford Territory (I'll tell you why later!)  and well having one to drive for a year while I keep saving would just make things a little big easier on us at the moment. The winner also gets to go to BlogHer!!!!!!!!! can you read the excitement from me on the page?  For those of you who don't know what BlogHer is... well it is one of the biggest, most grandest places on earth for a female blogger to go. You get to learn all things blogging and social media, brands and lots more to make you a better writer! Okay for the non bloggers out there I sound like a totally nutcase right now, but I bet you the bloggers reading this post are totally getting me....right?!  Lucky for 5 of the top 50 they have been given the opportunity to drive the Ford Territory for a week (I think) and share with us their adventures. If you want to check out the Kidspot Top 5 Bloggers you can so  by visiting their blogs below.

If you wish to vote for them you can do so by looking checking out the Top 5 Kidspot Bloggers and you can even win $5000 for doing so!

I just want to wish the the Top 5 all the best in the blogging award and just wanted to say you haven't made it easy to pick a winner either Kidspot!

This isn't a sponsored post I just wanted to share the list of great bloggers who were nominated in the top 50 and to find out your thoughts on blogging awards.

No worries at all Chantelle.
I'm a bit behind the eight ball with everything but I am sure there are people out there who haven't read the list yet either.

What a gorgeous post, personally I think the some comps are great Ibut like many other bloggers I don't like the asking for the votes part. :)

Hi Nat! Thanks so much for your comment. Yes asking for votes can be a bit tricky sometimes. I've only been in one blogging contest and I am sure I didn't come close to winning as those that win do seem to have large followings. In saying that, I guess that is part of participating in these comps and being a popular blogger. Maybe if in society it was okay that we showed how proud of ourselves we were without worrying like we look like we were big noting ourselves it would come easier. Kind of like we are scared to do it because of the tall poppy syndrome Australia seems to have with those that are confident in themselves sometimes. What do you think?
