You're Invited! Point Cook Community Spirit Shines Through!

Please consider this your personal invitation from me to a special event. Share these details with your friends, family, neighbours & co-workers. Ask them to come along too and join us this Sunday 18th November 2012 at Saltwater Coast, Point Cook, Melbourne. Full details are below.

In this day and age when it can seem like everyone is busy and no one cares about each other, its important (to me) to not follow suit and to reach out when I think someone needs help. Being kind doesn't cost you anything and you might just make that person's day for having made the effort.
Right now I am in awe of my local community because we are stepping up and extending our hand to a family who really need some support right now. I am proud that where I come from the community spirit still exists and people still care.  You might be surprised to know that I don't live in a small country town, but in a city suburb in Melbourne called Point Cook. Our suburb is fairly young and lots of families live here with no extended family close by, so your friends really do become your family in many ways.
A couple of ladies and I from the Saltwater Coast, a housing estate in Point Cook Melbourne, have put together the following event to support a little boy with Leukemia who lives in our area. What has been completely amazing has been the support from very small local businesses, most of them Mum/Dad  run businesses, many of them home based businesses and from families in the area. Everyone is pulling together and donating whatever they can, be it a raffle prize, a loaf of bread, sausages, drinks etc. I have had the pleasure of dealing with so many of the people who have been giving donations, and it is humbling to know that there are so many caring people out there in MY community.  This makes me really proud of my neighbours in Point Cook. Originally I'm from country NSW and generosity and community is just something that is found there. Sometimes I worry that I'm not bringing my kids up in a community that cares, but right now I am sure that Point Cook is a great caring community as they've shown me that.

If you need directions check the map below and click on directions, you  can add your address and it will give you details on how to get to the event. Please come and join in this awesome community spirit and remember if you see someone who needs your support, stop and help them.

Point Cook is awesome and has the best community spirit, but it is largely due to people like you Fiona that are willing to go the extra mile for others. Happy to be a part of it and look forward to seeing the community spirit in action again on the weekend. Congratulations and a big thanks to you and the other volunteers for all the work you have done in bringing this together. x

Thanks ladies! We raised approx $2300 which was a great effort as everything was priced at $1 & $2. Everything was donated on the day and I was in totally awe of my local community. I appreciated all the donations from businesses as its tough out there at the moment in retail no matter your size. What I was really impressed with was the support from local families, so many donated slabs of drinks, boxes of chips, products to raffle etc. It was such a wonderful thing to be apart of and Axl had a wonderful time too. I think the highlight for me was seeing Axl's face when I was dressed up as Mickey Mouse and it made his day. BEST MOMENT EVER! xx
